The National Handwriting Day has traditionally been celebrated on January 23rd each year since 1977. This special day has its origins in the USA and the date marks the birthday of John Hancock (*1737), the first person to sign the American Declaration of Independence. His signature has since been understood as a stand-in for any significant signatures.

Today's Handwriting Day is a special day to celebrate once again our love for handwriting. We believe that the handwritten word is a cultural asset that we want to preserve. Personal handwriting expresses a great deal of personality and emotion, which cannot be achieved in this form with digital writing.
